Our Vision

History

St. John's High School, nestled in the picturesque village of Kurumannu, is a testament to a legacy that began over a century ago. Situated amidst the tranquil embrace of rolling hills and the enchanting allure of a gorge, this institution stands as a beacon of educational excellence and community stewardship.

The origins of St. John's High School trace back to its humble beginnings in a single room adjacent to the venerable St. John the Baptist church. Founded under the auspices of the Pala Diocese and managed by the church, the school owes its inception to the benevolence of Aippenparambilkunnel Chandi Chacko, whose generous donation of land provided the foundation for its growth.

In its nascent stages, the school was under the capable guidance of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Koodathinal as manager, and Sri. Esthappan sir as Headmaster, whose dedicated leadership laid the groundwork for its future success.

The journey towards expansion and progress continued with the relentless efforts of Very Rev. Fr. Chacko Vazhackalachan. In 1939, the school achieved a significant milestone with the establishment of its Upper Primary section, with Sri. Kizhakkekkara sir assuming the mantle of the first Headmaster.

Undeterred by challenges, Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Olickal spearheaded the endeavor to secure approval for the High School section in 1976. This milestone ushered in a new era of academic pursuit, with Sri. K.J. Mathai sir appointed as its inaugural Headmaster.

Beyond academic pursuits, St. John's High School expanded its offerings to include pre-primary classes, thus providing a comprehensive educational experience from early childhood through adolescence.
